A group of neurodivergent adults (18+) who like to get together to walk, visit galleries, and go to the movies, amongst other things, in London (although you don’t have to be from London to join)

Hello fellow human,

How are you? No, really, actually? I can’t be the only one who feels a little lonely of late. A combination of life post-pandemic, friends starting families as we enter our 30s, and my late autism and ADHD diagnosis has left me feeling a little disconnected. I’m autistic so, no surprise, I don’t love change. The impact of these transitions is, therefore, partly inevitable. But, there is something I think I can do to help myself: create a real life community of neurodivergent folk who feel similarly.

It’s an idea I’ve been toying with for a while. Too burned out to action it months ago, I quietly let it rest at the back of my busy brain. But when I caught myself sharing my sense of loneliness with my husband for the third time in the same number of days last week I decided I could either keep complaining, or I could do something about it.

That evening, in true AuDHD fashion, I brainstormed my idea and came up with the ‘London Neurodivergent Social Club’ (LNSC). LNSC is a group of neurodivergent adults (18+) who like to get together to walk, visit galleries, and go to the movies, amongst other things, in London (although you don’t have to be from London to join). It’s an inclusive group of people who want to spend time in community with fellow neurodivergent folk.

I shared about LNSC on my stories on Instagram earlier today and received an overwhelmingly positive response. It seems many have been looking for exactly this sort of laid back sense of community - regular meet ups to opt in and out of when it suits. If you’ve read this far it’s possible you’re feeling positive about the idea too. If so, here are the details of our first meet-up in Hyde Park:

Where to meet: Colicci Serpentine Coffee House in Hyde Park

When to meet: 9am

Agenda: We’ll grab a drink and any desired snacks from Colicci Serpentine Coffee House and then go for a stroll around Hyde Park together.
