Hello fellow human,
When I embarked on my rewilding journey last year I felt alone. I was starting to unravel the layers of myself, asking the question - is this really me? Following my decision to peel back the layers of social conditioning, I was in unchartered territory. I felt like I was choosing to stand still whilst everyone else continued on with their life. Of course, this was only my perception, and with time I started to discover that others like me were treading similar meandering paths of self-rediscovery.
Initially there was no-one in my direct social circle who was on a similar journey, so I looked to the internet and started this Substack (you can read my initial post explaining the concept of rewilding here). I researched books and podcasts to find solace in other people’s experiences and knowledge. Reading and hearing the voices of people, particularly women, who ‘got it’ was a huge comfort as they put words to experiences that I could not.
Our community of paid subscribers have recently been exchanging book recommendations in our group chat. It reminded me of how much inspiration and wisdom I’ve gained from the pages and episodes I’ve consumed on my journey so far. I felt inspired to put together a list of books and podcasts, made up of resources recommended by members of our Rewild community, so that we can all refer back to it on our respective journeys.
I have read and listened to many of the following books and podcasts, but equally there are a number I have yet to explore. Please therefore consider this list a community resource list, not a list of personal recommendations. Dip into it as you please, follow your curiosity, and know that we aren’t all going to enjoy or relate to the same resources - but having a big list to choose from is a great place to start!
