Hello! I've been making collages for years and I love your post. Without a doubt, it is a totally enriching activity that I recommend for many reasons. Thank you.

Love your collages! I was recently offered a tour of the basement of the main library branch, where all the donated books etc. are collected for the library's semi-annual book sales. There were aisles and aisles of boxes of books stored for the upcoming book sale, along with many huge containers on wheels (bigger than dumpsters) of books and magazines that were damaged or were not considered sell-able that were going to be recycled (trashed). I was sad to see many National Geographic magazines in the discard piles, along with many, many books. You might want to put in a request at your local library to save any donated copies of National Geographic for you. According to my library, they get tons of donated National Geographics and there's not enough market for them to save them.

Charlie!! I love this!

'I started acknowledging my creative longings again a couple of years ago. During my twenties, for whatever complex reasons, I had severed that part of myself - as if one can do that with such an integral force and not wither in the process.' --- I've been ruminating on this a lot recently. At the start of this year I started drawing for the first time since I was a kid, by going to animal life drawing classes. A combination of drawing without assessment and the incredible models (meerkats, birds, wolves...!) unlocked something about my relationship with creativity I had dismissed because I told myself I was only creative in certain, restrictive ways. I'm definitely going to dig out my old mag collection now!

And, hello! It was so wonderful to stumble across this post and realise who you are after I had read it. Hope you're extremely extremely well :) xxx

Thank you Sheila! It's still in my collage book for now but I'm thinking of making prints of my favourite ones and making a little wall gallery at some point - think that would be cute!

I love your bubble collage! It's so playful and happy. I've been trying to follow my creative flow more recently and I've been map-making (a slow process, but so fun) and doing some simple embroidery (simple, but also slow) to add interest to a pair of shorts that are comfortable but bored me a bit.

Thank you so much! Ooo map making sounds intriguing - do you do that physically or using software? Would love to know more if you feel like sharing. Embroidering clothing is such a vibe, you've inspired me to consider doing that to a few of my clothes too.

I'm doing a fantasy map of my creative ecosystem (based on Sarah Shotts' Discover Your Creative Ecosystem book prompt) and I'm doing it on paper. I'm getting the individual elements figured out on basic printer paper, then I'm going to put it all together and make a nice big final copy (possibly two - I can't decide if I want colour or not!) to hang on the wall in the room where I keep most of my art/craft supplies. For ideas and a good visual (I can't draw well without looking at a reference), I'm using a combination of Google and Pinterest.
